CPU/Processor Models: Intel

Intel CPUs

Value CPU: Intel's value processors are named "Celeron". There are "Celeron" and "Celeron D" processors. "Celeron D" performs better than "Celeron", so if you're looking for a cheap CPU that will serve you in simple tasks such as typing something up or browsing the web, a "Celeron D" would make a fine choice.

Performance CPU: Intel's performance CPU lineup consists of the "Pentium 4" processors. All Pentium 4s perform well in that they can open large programs and game with relative ease with respect to the "Celeron" lineup. Some Pentium 4s support "Hyper-Threading Technology". This technology helps the processor to run several programs easier.

Multitasking/High Performance CPU: Intel's multitasking and high performance CPU lineup comprise of "Pentium D", "Core Duo", and "Core 2 Duo" processors. Pentium D and Core Duo are being phased out by Core 2 Duo, which is coming out on July 27th.

Enthusiast CPU: Intel's enthusiast CPUs include "Pentium Processor Extreme Edition" and "Core 2 Extreme". Again, Core 2 Extreme will replace Pentium Processor Extreme Edition once it comes out on July 27th.

Now, let's take a look at AMD's offerings.
