Beginner's Guide to Hardware

Welcome to KaWai PC's Beginner's Guide to Hardware!

Note: This beginner's guide assumes that you have no experience with computers or its key components.

A computer has four key components that for the most part, makes it function. These four components are:

  • CPU (Central Processing Unit)
  • RAM (Random Access Memory)
  • Hard disk
  • Motherboard

I like to describe the functions of the above four as an office cubicle. Imagine you work in a cubicle with a desk, a filing cabinet, along with yourself sitting there. You will be the CPU, the desk the RAM, filing cabinet the hard disk, and the cubicle the motherboard.
